Colonel Dao Xuan Kinh, Chief of the MIA agency under the Defence Ministry, who is also Vice Director of the Vietnamese Office for Seeking Missing Persons, briefed them on the results of Vietnam-US cooperation in the search for those missing in action.

In recent years, he said, the Vietnam MIA agency has carried out many activities, including conducting unilateral and joint investigations, collecting documents, and interviewing witnesses to identify remains of the dead.

So far, it has handed over 915 sets of remains to the US and the remains of all Australian servicemen missing in the Vietnam War to Australia.

Military attachés from Australia, South Africa, Cambodia, and Singapore thanked the Vietnam MIA agency for its sharing information on the MIA work and expressed their wishes to see this work better done in future.
