Le fails to qualify in 200m backstroke at worlds

Le Nguyen Paul of Vietnam joined the collection of Vietnamese swimmers who failed to rank high enough to win berths to the Brazil Olympics on August 6.

At the World Swimming Championships in Russia, Le swam in the men's 200m backstroke, docking a time of 2min 04.78sec. He finished 10th in the second heat and failed to advance to the semi-finals. His put him at 32nd position among 37 participants in the event. His result was a good two seconds behind his best of 2:02.23.

Le will take part in the 50m backstroke on August 8, the last heat of the round with some of the fastest swimmers in the world — Vladimor Morozov of Russia, Jeremy Stravius from France and Tomasz Polewka of Poland.

Today, Vietnam's Hoang Quy Phuoc will test his skills in the men's 100m butterfly.
