A ceremony was held in the central coastal city of Nha Trang on June 8 to send off a delegation of 128 athletes and coaches to attend the third Asian Beach Games, scheduled for China’s Haiyang city from June 16-22.

The Games attract the participation of thousands of athletes from 45 countries and territories around the world to compete in 12 sporting events.

The Vietnamese delegation will take part in nine events, namely sepak takraw, wood ball, volleyball, handball, basketball, football, inline skating, wall climbing, and dragon boat racing.

This is a good chance for Vietnamese participants to gain more experience in preparation for the country’s hosting of the 5th Asian Games in 2016. The 4th biennial event will take place in Thailand in 2014.
