Deputies to the current session of the National Assembly on November 22 approved five more laws, bringing the total number of laws approved in the past two days to 11 and completing its law-making process.

The Law on Tax Management, which has 14 chapters and 120 articles, covers the management of taxes and other contributions to the State budget. The law will be applied to tax payers and tax management agencies. Tax payers are organisations, households and individuals, while tax management agencies are the General Department of Taxation and its tax bureaux and the General Department of Customs and its customs bureaux.

After being approved, the Law on Dykes has eight chapters and 48 articles, which cover the flood prevention planning for major river systems, dyke planning, investment and upgrade of the dyke system and dyke protection. The law will be applied to domestic and foreign organisations and individuals concerned with dykes in Vietnam.

With seven chapters and 61 articles, the Law on Technology Transfer governs the transfer of technology from and to Vietnam, authorisation of State management agencies, and measures to encourage technology transfer. The law will be applied to Vietnamese individuals and organisations, Vietnamese nationals residing overseas and foreign individuals and organisations involving in technology transfer.

The six-chapter and 42-article Law on Residence governs citizens’ right to freedom of residency in the territory of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; registration and management procedures, and the right and responsibility of citizens, households and management agencies concerning residency. The Law will be applied to organisations, households and citizens of Vietnam and Vietnamese nationals residing overseas bearing the Vietnamese nationality and wanting to return to live in the homeland.

The Law on Notaries was the last bill approved by NA deputies on November 22. With eight chapters and 65 articles, the law covers the scope of notaries, notary offices, notary procedures and State management over notary work.

On November 23, NA deputies will discuss the implementation of a programme to plant five million hectares of forests.
