The driver of the coach in the tragic accident that killed 34 people on the Srepok Bridge on May 17 was speeding and lost control of the vehicle, Colonel Pham Minh Thang, a police spokesperson of Dak Lak Province announced on June 7.

The police reached this conclusion after a thorough investigation conducted by the Institute of Criminal Science, which gathered all necessary evidence and statements from witnesses.
Driver Pham Ngoc Lam, who died in the accident, was driving the coach at a speed of 70km per hour and lost control of his vehicle, crashing it into the guard rail of the bridge.
The crash broke the railing of the Srepok Bridge and the vehicle fell into the river, killing 34 people.
The investigation revealed that the coach had been carrying 57 passengers, including four children, at the time of the accident, while its capacity allowed a maximum of 52 people.
