Libya wants to further promote friendly cooperative ties with Vietnam in all fields, particularly in trade, investment and labour, affirmed Libyan Secretary of Asian Affairs Mohammed Omar Al Barani.

Al Barani, who heads a delegation of the Libyan General People's Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation on a three-day visit to Vietnam, made the statement during talks with Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Vu Dung in Hanoi on February 1.


Host and guest discussed measures to boost the trade and economic cooperation between Vietnam and Libya.

Secretary Al Barani expressed his admiration for Vietnam's renewal achievements and said he believed that the Vietnamese people will gain success in building Vietnam into a prosperous nation.


Deputy FM Dung spoke highly of the achievements the Libyan people have recorded under the leadership of Revolutionary Leader Colonel Muammar Al-Qaddafi in national construction and defence, which he said, contribute positively to consolidating peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world at large.

On January 31, Vietnam and Libya signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a political consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries.


During the three-day visit, Secretary Al Barani held working sessions with Deputy Minister of Construction Tong Van Nga, Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Le Bach Hong and Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations Tran Trong Khanh.


The Libyan guests visited the Hanoi Vocational Training College, the Leather and Footwear Corporation, the Phuc Yen Leather Joint Stock Company and a number of cultural and historical establishments in the country.
