Public Security Minister upbeat about fruitful ties with Russia

VOV.VN - Minister of Public Security General To Lam has rejoiced over the co-operative relations between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation following the positive developments made in multiple fields.

Talks were held between Minister of Public Security General To Lam and Russian Minister of Internal Affairs Kolokoltsev Vladimir Alexandrovich following a welcome ceremony for the Russian official and his delegation held on October 31 in Hanoi.

Upon welcoming the working visit by Minister Alexandrovich and his high-ranking delegation, Minister Lam affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security attaches great importance to this visit. It is thought that the trip will contribute to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between both sides, thereby giving fresh impetus to the development of sound traditional relations between the two ministries.

This clearly demonstrates the regular co-ordination and close relationship of mutual support in terms of building and protecting the national interests of each country.

The two ministries have actively worked to intensify the exchange of delegations, organised bilateral and multilateral conferences, and regularly worked together to investigate transnational cases and arrest internationally wanted individuals through bilateral co-operation channels and collaborate effectively within the Interpol cooperation framework.

The functional units of the two ministries also regularly exchange information; share experience; co-ordinate investigations, and complete verification, extradition, and transfer of many criminals.

Amid complicated world and regional developments, to continue to further boost co-operation, the two sides have agreed to effectively carry out the "Coordinated Action Program” between Ministry of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the 2022 to 2024 period signed in May.

They will research and add urgent co-operation contents that both sides are mutually interested in into the Coordination Program for the 2025 to 2027 period.

The two sides concurred to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, both bilaterally and multilaterally in order to continue promoting linkages and sharing in the field of crime prevention and a number of other tasks related to their functions.

This is along with continuing to exchange crime information, hold investigations, and handle cases related to the two sides to improve the effectiveness of the two sides’ fight against crime.

Both sides also consented to study the possibility of establishing a co-ordination mechanism in the protection of businessmen, students, and citizens working, studying, and living in the other country. This will be done whilst ensuring the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of the two countries, as well as proactively preventing criminal activities that violate the law, and harm the national security of both nations.
