The East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Forum ((EATOF) got underway at the Tuan Chau International Resort in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh on September 14.  

Addressing the opening ceremony, Kang-ki-chan, Deputy Governor of Gangwon province in the Republic of Korea emphasised that the event was of great significance and would help the region to come up with ideas for the future. He asked all the member provinces to join efforts to ensure sustainable development in East Asia.

Present were representatives of eight provinces in the region such as CEBU (the Philippines), Gangwon (the Republic of Korea), Luang Prabang (Lao), Sarawak (Malaysia), Siem Riep (Cambodia), Tottori (Japan), Tuv (Mongolia), Yohyakarta (Indonesia).

Many important activities have been held on the occasion including a travel fair, and a special arts programme.

The EATOF will continue until September 17.
