Since 1993 the Lao’s government has approved 197 Vietnamese projects with a total registered capital of nearly US$2.3 billion.

Vietnam now ranks third among 37 countries involved in investment projects in Laos. Of 197 projects, 127 are financed wholly by Vietnamese investors. The rest are joint ventures between Laos and Vietnam. The total registered capital includes US$2 billion by Vietnamese companies and US$173 million by Lao companies.

Most Vietnamese projects in Laos focus on electricity, mining, building, telecommunications, manufacturing, services and banking.

The Lao Ministry of Planning and Investment has announced that some of Vietnamese projects are now being considered by the Government.
