Hai Phong water puppetry festival to take place in May
VOV.VN - A water puppetry festival is scheduled to get underway in Hai Phong from May 1 to May 7, with the event aiming to preserve the nation’s unique intangible heritage and introduce the art to both domestic and foreign tourists.
The event will draw the participation of leading domestic troupes, including the Vietnam National Puppetry Theatre, Thang Long Puppetry Theatre, Ninh Binh Puppetry Theatre, Quang Ninh Puppetry Theatre, and the hosts Hai Phong puppetry troupe.
Puppeteers will put on a variety of different puppet performances such as water puppets, stick puppets, hand puppets, and string puppets.
The event offers an opportunity for water puppet troupes to exchange their experience in traditional art performances, while also helping to promote the art to international friends during the upcoming holiday.
The event will kick start the summer tourism season, as well as celebrating National Reunification Day on April 30, International Labour Day on May 1, Hai Phong Liberation Day on May 13, and the 2023 Hai Phong Hoa Phuong Do (flamboyant red) Festival.
