Vietnam and the EU have narrowed their differences in many provisions of their Partnership and Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement (PCA) during the fifth round of negotiations.

During the three-day talks in Brussels, Belgium, which ended on November 6, the two sides reached consensus on several specific provisions of the PCA, particularly those related to cooperation in specialised areas, thus laying a good foundation to maintain bilateral negotiations.

They issued a joint press release at the end of the talks, saying both sides were pleased with the new developments and hoped to complete negotiations and sign the PCA as soon as possible.

The sixth round of PCA negotiations will take place in Hanoi in the first quarter of 2010.
