The Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) of Canada will send volunteers to help Vietnam expand agriculture from now till 2009 under the so-called UNITERRA programme.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Hanoi on November 13 by CECI and the National Agricultural Extension Centre (NAEC) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

NAEC Director Tong Khiem said the cooperation is expected to open up opportunities for Vietnamese experts in the field of agricultural extension to exchange information, knowledge, and experience with other Canadian organizations.

The non-governmental organization CICE began its operations in Vietnam in 1991, with a focus on improving living conditions for the poor, particularly those in mountainous and coastal areas.
