During the meeting on the master plan to provide vocational training for rural workers, Mr. Nhan said it is essential to keep vocational training commensurate with business demand, to standardise training programmes and to link vocational training with the creation of jobs.

It is also necessary to continue upgrading vocational training facilities in localities and providing students and workers with no-interest loans to improve their skills.

The master plan calls for approximately 1 million rural workers to receive vocational training each year through 2011 and to reach more than 50 percent of rural workers by 2020. It is expected to raise their income by 2.5 times.
