Tam wins gold at int’l boxing event in Bulgaria

Vietnamese female boxer Nguyen Thi Tam has the golden touch.

The fighter has scooped a gold medal at the fourth Women’s and Women’s Youth Boxing Tournament in Bulgaria on October 16.

Tam beat four rivals in the women’s 51kg category to take the title.

She is leading boxer of Vietnam in this category and add this gold to the bronze in the Asian Games in Indonesia last month and a gold at the Asian Boxing Championship held in HCM City last year.

In addition to Tam’s gold medal, Vietnam won two more silvers and one bronze. The silvers went to Do Thi Thuy in the 54kg and Nguyen Thanh Thanh Thom in the 57kg. While the bronze was won by Nguyen Thi Huong in the 75kg.

Vietnam sent five boxers to the event which attracted of 200 fighters from 17 countries.

They will next be on the ring at the National Sports Games in late November in Hanoi.
