Victims of Typhoon Xangsane in central Da Nang city received relief aid worth over US$12,000 from the Association of Vietnamese Alumni in Japan (Exryu) on November 11.

Gift package and scholarships each worth VND500,000 were presented to 70 primary pupils living under difficult circumstances and VND156 million were provided to 52 families to help them rebuild their houses.

Typhoon Xangsane hit Da Nang and its surrounding areas in early October this year, leaving 76 killed or missing and 532 others injured. It caused an estimated loss of nearly US$677 million in total.
