Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon''s condition remains in critical but stable condition, a spokesman at Hadassah Hospital said Sunday.

Doctors plan to meet later Sunday to discuss when to begin reducing anesthesia so Sharon can slowly awaken from a medically induced coma, said spokesman Ron Kromer.

According to hospital director Dr Shlomo Mor-Yosef, a recent CT scan shows "slight improvement" in Sharon's brain, which required three surgeries to treat bleeding and swelling said. He explained that the swelling that occurred on the right side of Sharon's brain has decreased.

Doctors won't know the extent of the damage to his brain -- or his overall condition -- until the anesthesia is reduced, Dr Mor-Yosef said.

Medical experts have said it is unlikely Sharon would recover enough to be able to lead the country.

On Saturday, Jordan's King Abdullah called Israeli Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to express concern about Sharon's condition. Abdullah emphasised the important relations between the two nations and stressed that Jordan wants to continue its relationship with the Israeli government.
