Twenty-five cases of hand, foot and mouth disease were reported in central Da Nang City in April, bringing the total number of infected cases to 45, according to the City’s Medical Preventive Centre.

The centre’s director said that most cases were not serious and all patients were children aged between 2 and 5. The disease was most commonly caused by coxsackievirus A16.

To prevent the spread of the disease, the centre has urged the districts’ education and training department to increase the distribution of information on the virus. The centre is working with all the local authorities to control the spread of the disease in high-risk areas.
