Firefighters battle flames at tire recycling facility in Quang Ngai
VOV.VN - Hundreds of firemen battled smoke and flames for more than four hours in 40C sweltering heat yesterday (June 5) at a rubber tire recycling business in the hamlet of Hoa Binh in Quang Ngai Province.
The Zing Online Newspaper reports fire and other rescue crews respond to the scene at roughly 6:30am in the early morning hours at the recycling yard owned by Huynh Hong Thu. |
After detecting the fire, Mr Thu’s brother immediately organizes workers and nearby residents to salvage property but forgets to call the fire house. |
By the time fire officials get on scene, thick smoke and flames are seen billowing high into the sky from the piles of tires scattered about the recycling complex yard. |
Ten fire engines and an estimated 300 firemen battle the dense smoke and blaze in temps hitting 40C for more than four hours before getting it under control. |
Two buildings at the yard are burned to the ground and crews work diligently to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures. |
The provincial environment ministry is on scene, monitoring air quality. Firefighters are wearing oxygen breathing equipment to protect themselves. |
After hours of attacking the fire, the faces of the firemen are covered with soot and look as though they have just emerged from a coal mine. |
