About VND4.5 billion (roughly US$282,250) will be allocated for a public awareness programme on HIV/AIDS prevention and control from 2007 to 2010.

The information was released at a conference in Hanoi on September 11 regarding the implementation of the US-funded project on social marketing techniques for behavioural communications.

The project, funded by Population Services International (PSI) of the US, aims to educate the public on safe sex and help high-risk groups working in restaurants, hotels, bars and other entertainment services to access essential products to avoid HIV transmission.

a group of 25 graduates from universities and colleges will also be directly involved in the project’s communication group.

PSI is a non-profit organization based in Washington D.C., that designs and implements programmes worldwide to encourage healthy behaviour and increase the availability of essential health products and services at affordable prices.
