Vingroup leader among top 500 billionaires worldwide

VOV.VN - Pham Nhat Vuong, chairman of Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, has been listed as one of the 500 richest people in the world, according to Bloomberg Billionaire Index

As of July 11, Vuong was ranked 405th with a total net worth of US$5.82 billion, Bloomberg said in its Billionaire Index update.

Forbes first named the Vingroup leader as one of the 1,000 richest people in the world back in 2013, with a total net worth of US$1.5 billion, duly ranking 974th globally. His fortune then rose to US$1.6 billion in 2014 and US$2.1 billion in 2016.

Most notably, 2020 was also the eighth consecutive year that the Vietnamese executive made the list of billionaires, according to Forbes.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Vuong is the chairman of Vingroup, the largest private multi-sectoral economic conglomerate in the country. The Hanoi-based group has interests in a range of sectors, including property development, retail, car manufacturing, and health care. It’s also the producer of the nation’s first locally-made smartphone.
