Tourism for 2015 off to a strong start

(VOV) - The number of inbound arrivals to Vietnam got off to a strong start for 2015, growing by 6.6% on-month for January to 700, 692 foreign arrivals, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT). 

In terms of mode of transport, 80.2% of them travelled by air while 0.98% by sea and and 18.82% by land. 

The predominant increases came from the Republic of Korea (up 41.5%), Spain (up 30.6%), the Netherlands (up 21.8%), Singapore (up 16.4%) and Italy (up 12.7%) while those witnessing a decline included Hong Kong (down 34.1%), Russia (down 28.7%), China (down 24.7%), Thailand (down 21.0%) and the Philippines (down 19.5%). 

In 2015, the tourism sector has set a target   of welcoming 8.3-8.5 million international arrivals and 41 million local visitors, realising total revenue of VND270,000 billion.
