Botswana desires to boost cooperation in multiple fields with Vietnam

VOV.VN - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Botswana Vincent T. Seretse affirmed his nation’s wish to bolster cooperation with Vietnam on agriculture, information technology and health care at a meeting  with Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Vu Hong Nam during his working visit over May 21-22.

The Botswana diplomat promised to consider support for Vietnam’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council for 2020-2021 and glowingly spoke of its foreign policy of independence and self-reliance and stressed the importance of compliance with international law.

In reply, Nam congratulated Botswana on its development achievements and discussed with his host measures to further bilateral relations and prepare for the celebration of the 10th anniversary of diplomatic ties (2009-2019).

Host and guest consented to soon sign an agreement on economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technical cooperation and another on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders aiming to facilitate the exchange of all-level delegations and business connections between their businesses.

He conveyed a letter of President Tran Dai Quang to President Mokgweetsi Masini suggesting Botswana support Vietnam’s bid to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2020-2021.
