Vietnam wants more and more Danish investors to do business in the country and share experience with their Vietnamese partners, President Nguyen Minh Triet said on September 12 while receiving Danish Deputy Prime Minister Bendt Bendtsen.

President Triet affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always creates favourable conditions for foreign investors to operate in the country, considering their investment a driving force behind national development.

He thanked the Danish Government for helping promote Vietnam-European Union cooperation and supporting Vietnam's bid to join the World Trade Organisation and its candidacy as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2008-2009 term.

President Triet said he believes that the Danish Deputy PM’s visit to Vietnam will help enhance cooperation between the two countries, including Danish investment in Vietnam.

Deputy PM Bendtsen, who led a delegation of entrepreneurs to Vietnam to explore the investment environment, said that the Danish Government values its cooperation and friendship with Vietnam. He expressed his hope that Danish companies will contribute to Vietnam’s development in the future.

Danish investment in Vietnam now stands at 1 billion Danish Krone, but is expected to increase rapidly following the visit, the Deputy PM said.

He affirmed that the Danish Government as well as Danish companies are ready to cooperate with Vietnam in all fields, particularly in maritime and energy.

The Deputy PM informed President Triet of the Danish Government's decision to continue its aid programme to Vietnam over the next five years.
