The Singapore-Vietnam Technical Training Centre (SVTTC) in the southern province of Binh Duong will be upgraded to a college in the future. The improvement is part of the second phase of a project to upgrade the SVTTC that its management board discussed during its meeting in Binh Duong province on February 10.

The project, a cooperative programme between the Vietnamese and Singaporean Governments, has a total investment of US$10 million funded by the latter.

The SVTTC began operating in 1997, providing vocational training for local people to meet the demand of local businesses, particularly those operating at Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park.

The 3-ha centre has so far provided training for nearly 2,000 technicians, 90 percent of whom have been recruited to work for businesses at the industrial park.
