The German government will provide Vietnam with technical and financial co-operation aid worth 98 million Euros (US$120 million) for the 2006-2007 period, an increase of 15 percent compared with the previous aid level.

The pledge was announced at a meeting between the two sides in Bonn, Germany from May 10-11.
With the aid, Germany will expand its support to the environmental protection from industrial pollution.

The aid will help Vietnam implement the 2006-2010 socio-economic development plan through projects in economy development, environmental protection, natural resources and health care.
At the meeting, the German side also acknowledged the Vietnamese government's remarkable achievements in poverty reduction.
