The First Ethnic Minority Groups’ Unity Congress of Central Highlands Kon Tum province affirms the rightness and consistency in the national policies of the Party and State, and shown a constant growth of the national unity block.

The congress held on February 27attracted as many as 200 representatives from over 20 local ethnic groups.

Speaking at the function, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Le Truyen praised the renewal achievements of ethnic groups in the Central Highlands region in general and Kon Tum province in particular.

Over the past 60 years, Kon Tum province has constantly strengthened unity among local ethnic groups, thus contributing to the cause of national liberation and re-unification as well as the current process of national construction and defence.

The local people’s living conditions have remarkably improved over 20 years of renewal. Kon Tum has built more than 520 houses for poor people worth nearly VND2 billion in total. All communes in the province now have access to the national electricity grid and 81 percent of them have well-built medical stations.

The congress has nominated 60 outstanding delegates to attend the Central Highlands Ethnic Minority Groups’ Unity Congress to be held in Pleiku city, Gia Lai province, in March.
