The Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association chapter in Ho Chi Minh City hosted a meeting on May 5 to mark the 65th anniversary of victory over German fascist (May 9).

Addressing the event, Russian Consul General Nikolay Dmitrievich Ubushiev said the Soviet people and Red Army’s great victory not only helped preserve independence and freedom for the former Soviet Union but also stopped the fascism’s conspiracy to rule the world.

He also expressed his hope that Vietnam and Russia will continue to close their ties and develop friendship between the two peoples.

The association’s vice president Tang Van Hong said that the victory over fascism and the Liberation of Southern Vietnam are significant landmarks in each country’s history.
