Early elections of deputies to the 13th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 term were held in many remote mountainous areas on May 19, three days earlier than the official day of elections nationwide.

A total of 2,200 voters in two communes of Hiep Hoa and Phuoc Gia, mainly inhabited by Cadoong ethnic minority group in Hiep Duc district, central Quang Nam province, cast their votes.

Meanwhile, almost 1,300 Vietnamese who are working at the Sekaman 3 hydroelectric power project site in Laos’ Sekong province went to a mobile polling station at the Nam Giang bordergate of Quang Nam province.

The Managing Director of Sekaman 3 project, Pham Van Kiem, said that his company had arranged 10 buses to bring them back.

A couple of workers from central Nghe An province said they were very happy to return to the homeland to exercise their citizens’ rights.

Vietnamese citizens, wherever they live and work, always receive help from the Party and State to fulfill their rights and duties, said Phan Thi Hai.
