Tuyen Quang to host second international hot air balloon festival

VOV.VN - The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang province recently held a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City to announce the upcoming launch of the second international hot air balloon festival 2023.

The festival will be the highlight of the Tuyen Quang Tourism Year 2023 event and will get underway from April 28 to May 2.

It will take place across two venues, namely Nguyen Tat Thanh Square in Tuyen Quang city between April 28 and May 2, as well as at Na Tong Stadium in Lam Binh district on May 1 and May 2.

The event will bring together a total of 20 hot air balloons, including 10 free-flying hot air balloons, five mini hot air balloon demonstrations, and a light show by five hot air balloons.

They will be under the control of experienced pilots from different countries and territories around the world, including Japan, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, the Netherlands, India, Slovakia, Russia, Taiwan (China), and Vietnam.

During the five-day event, visitors will have the chance to fly in hot air balloons and see major local tourist sites from above, including the Na Hang-Lam Binh eco-tourism area, as well as participating in a series of entertainment activities such as exchanges between pilots and local students and a special light shows.

Furthermore, they will have the opportunity to participate in unique festive activities to celebrate the Tuyen Quang Tourism Year 2023 involving kayaking activities on Na Hang lake, a fair on handicraft products of craft villages across the country, and a women’s football tournament.

With the message of "Tuyen Quang is a safe, friendly, attractive destination", the province anticipates that the hot air balloon festival will be a prominent highlight for the Tuyen Quang Tourism Year as a contribution to realising the goal of welcoming nearly three million tourists this year.

In 2022, the locality province received 2.2 million arrivals. There were up to 880,000 arrivals to the locality in the first quarter of this year, rising by 107% compared to the same period from last year and reaching 35% of the target in 2023.
