Tropical depression heading towards East Sea, likely to turn into storm
VOV.VN - A tropical low pressure located in the central Philippines is heading towards the East Sea on September 15 and is expected to develop into a storm, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
Over the course of the next 24 hours, the tropical depression is forecast to move west-northwest at speeds of between 15km and 20km per hour before strengthening into a typhoon.
Moving ahead to the next 48 hours, it is anticipated that the storm will be located at approximately 400km southeast of the Hoang Sa Archipelago, also known as the Paracel Islands, with maximum wind speeds reaching up to 90km per hour.
All fishing vessels currently operating in the waters between the Hoang Sa archipelago and Truong Sa, also known as the Spratly Islands, have been urged to seek safe shelters and remain updated on the developments occurring with the storm.
The tropical depression, along with the southwest monsoon, is expected to cause the southern region to be hit by heavy rainfall from September 16 to September 19, while northern regions will also endure heavy downpours in the coming days due to the combination of wind convergence and cold air.
