Vietnam and RoK hold copyright forum 2023
VOV.VN - The Copyright Office of Vietnam and the Korea Copyright Protection Agency (KCOPA) jointly held a forum in Hanoi on April 6 to promote cooperation in the field.
In his presentation, Kim Dong-eun, head of the Department for Trade and Culture Cooperation under the KCOPA, said the emergence of new technologies along with different technology-based business models in the content industry is contributing to create major changes in the entire copyright ecosystem.
This forum has met the needs of the two countries by jointly offering multifaceted solutions towards reducing policy lag on copyright and relevant rights regarding technology development, said Kim.
The view was shared by Park Jung-yeol, president of KCOPA, who said the creative industry in both Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) is in the midst of facing many challenges, particularly as online content piracy is able to happen across borders, meaning that the protection of copyright is essential in the current age.
Meanwhile, Tran Hoang, director of the Copyright Office of Vietnam, said Vietnam has effectively implemented a Memorandum of Understanding on copyright protection cooperation it signed with the RoK in September 2013.
The forum was to provide up-to-date information about the two countries’ policies on copyrights and related rights, and to outline orientations for cooperation in future, he said.
At the forum Korean delegates analysed the changes in terms of the law on copyright in the RoK, the protection of copyright in the digital environment, and tasks ahead in the future.
Furthermore, the Vietnamese side provided information on copyright law enforcement in the country.
The delegates outlined solutions to strengthen the effective enforcement of copyright and relevant rights moving forward, stepping up the application of information technology, and reinforcing international cooperation in the fight against violations of copyright and relevant rights across borders and in cyberspace.
