Dien Bien needs to restructure its economy more efficiently with a focus on finalising key projects by 2015 and fighting corruption, said Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee (CPVCC) Truong Tan Sang.

During his visit to northern Dien Bien province on April 3-4, Mr Sang praised the province’s achievements over the years while calling on it to make greater efforts in tapping its strength to boost economic development and implement Government resolution 11 and Political Bureau Conclusion No 02 on controlling inflation.

The delegation led by Mr Sang also visited Tay Trang International bordergate as well as economic establishments in Dien Bien district and inspected the implementation of  route 2E connecting Vietnam’s Dien Bien province and Laos’ Phong Xa Ly province.

After examining a pilot model for building new rural areas in Thanh Chan commune, Mr Sang asked Dien Bien to pay more attention to restructuring production and labour to increase worker income, speed up socio-economic development and curb inflation and to join hands with the whole country to deal with urgent issues related to long-term development.
