Nguyen The Thinh, Head of the Vietnam Permanent Mission in Geneva, said all members of the mission have actively promoted the image of Ha Long Bay to Vietnamese expatriates when they apply for visas.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Switzerland, Hoang Van Nha, said the Vietnamese embassy has also encouraged the Vietnamese community in Switzerland to vote for Ha Long Bay.

Many members of the Vietnamese Association in Switzerland, and the Switzerland-Vietnam Friendship Association also voted for the Bay through the internet and by sending text messages and making phone calls.

Many overseas Vietnamese said they have also mobilized their relatives to demonstrate their patriotism by voting for the Bay.

Ha Long Bay is now one of 28 candidates for the new seven natural wonders of the world title.
