The Australian government attaches importance to its long-term and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in economics, trade, science, education and human resources training.

Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Stephen Smith made the statement during his meeting with Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh in Hanoi on July 2.


The visiting minister spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements during renewal and international integration process. He expressed his belief that the Vietnamese people will record greater achievements during the process of national industrialization and modernization, construction and development.


General Secretary Manh appreciated the Australian minister’s visit, which takes place at a time when Vietnam and Australia are celebrating the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.


The party leader affirmed Vietnam’s policy of placing importance on boosting relations with Australia. He also said he believes that the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries will be constantly strengthened and developed.
