Taekwondo expected to get big Olympic rewards

(VOV) - Vietnamese athletes will get US$100,000 if they win a gold medal at Olympic Rio 2016.

This was announced at the signing of a six-year contract between the Korean CJ group and Taekwondo Vietnam in May 20.

During six years, CJ will finance all coaching and training costs for Vietnamese female Taekwondo to compete at four major tournaments: the Asian Games 2014 in Incheon, the Republic of Korea, the Youth Olympic Games 2014 in China, the Olympic 2016 in Brazil and the Asian Games in Vietnam in 2019.

CJ is committed to offering big rewards for athletes who win gold medals at importance events, for example US$100,000 at the Asian Games 2014 in Incheon and US$20,000 at the Asian Games in Vietnam in 2019.

In addition, CJ will choose Korean coaches for the Vietnamese team.

This is the second time CJ has sponsored Vietnamese Taekwondo athletes.
