Trade through border gates in northern Quang Ninh and Lao Cai provinces increased sharply to over US$1.26 billion in the first half of the year.
The Mong Cai border gate in Quang Ninh alone recorded US$965.5 million in cross border trade, up 21 percent from last year.
Meanwhile, the Lao Cai border gate achieved nearly US$300 million, up 74 percent over the same period last year. About 100-150 trucks and cars travel through the Lao Cai border gate a day.
