The money was given to Pham The Duyet, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee, in Hanoi on October 24.

The ambassador sent his deep sympathy to families of flood victims and expressed the hope that they will restore their daily lives and production soon. He affirmed that the RoK government and people want to support Vietnamese people suffering from natural disasters and considered it an important factor in strengthening relations between the two countries.

President Pham The Duyet said the donation is of practical assistance to Vietnam.

*** The same day, the Vietnamese Association in Halbastadt, Germany, donated VND1.2 million and 600 euros to the “Fund for the poor”.

*** The Committee of Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA) also received a US$8,000 donation from the Vietnamese community in Russia.

Nguyen Trong Toan, COVA vice president, thanked overseas Vietnamese for their charitable activities towards the homeland. The donation will be a great encouragement for Vietnamese flood victims.

Tran Thanh Hai, a representative of overseas Vietnamese in Russia, said charitable work is now becoming a regular activity of Vietnamese residents with hopes that the money will partly help people in the homeland overcome difficulties caused by natural disasters.
