Application of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the securities and insurance industries is the main topic of a three-day conference-cum-exhibition which opened in Hanoi on August 30.

The Vietnam ICT in Finance 2006 attracted more than 900 representatives from relevant ministries, agencies, and local and foreign insurance and securities companies to discuss ICT solutions for the two industries.

This is the third time the Department of Finance Informatics and Statistics of the Finance Ministry and the International Data Group in Vietnam (IDG Vietnam) have jointly held the annual event with the aim of pushing up ICT application in securities and insurance to support Vietnam in its accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
