On November 6, a Vietnamese government delegation led by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung left Hanoi for Japan to attend the first two-day Mekong-Japan summit in Tokyo, at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama.

The delegation includes Minister of Planning and Investment Vo Hong Phuc, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Phu Binh, Deputy Director of the Government Office Van Trong Ly, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ho Xuan Son, Deputy Minister of Transport Ngo Thinh Duc, Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Xuan Ha, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Office Dinh Van An, Chairman of the Vietnam Institute of Science and Technology Chau Van Minh and assistant to the PM Nguyen Van Tung.

PM Dung’s participation in the summit reiterates Vietnam’s consistent policy of attaching great importance to boosting relations with Japan and ensuring that the strategic bilateral partnership is more substantive and effective.
