Vietnam has asked Japan to continue helping the country preserve the Thang Long Citadel and join hands with Vietnam in activities celebrating the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

The proposals were made by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh when he met Japan-Vietnam Special Ambassador Sugi Ryotaro in Hanoi on April 15.

The events include a football championship along with puppet, circus and film festivals.

At the meeting, Mr Anh also spoke highly of cooperative ties between Vietnam and Japan in culture, sports and tourism over the past years.

Mr Ryotaro said he agreed with the proposals and told Mr Anh that Japan’s Ibaragi prefecture will launch a study tour of Vietnam for its high-school students in a bid to promote Vietnam’s image among Japanese teens.
