During talks with the Vietnamese delegation, Argentine leaders, members of parliament and scholars praised the visit as a positive contribution to making bilateral relations more effective and substantial.
They also expressed their admiration for the Vietnamese people’s past heroic struggle for national independence and their tremendous achievements recorded in the current renewal (Doi Moi) process, adding that both countries should further strengthen relations in politics, economics, trade, science and technology and culture.
The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs committee in the Argentine senate, Daniel Filmus, said his country will set up a parliamentary friendship group with Vietnam in the near future to enhance the role of the two parliaments in accelerating the implementation of the signed agreements and preparations for the 40th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties next year.
For his part, Vice NA Chairman Luu spoke highly of Argentina’s role in Latin America, saying that expanding cooperation between the two legislative bodies and parliamentary organizations in the region and the world will contribute to creating closer links between Asia and South America and between South-South nations.
He expressed his appreciation the Argentina-Vietnam Culture Institute’s operations during the past 15 years which has helped foster the friendship and solidarity between the two peoples.
The Vietnamese delegation met with leaders from the Parliament, the National Academy of Sciences, and the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights and was briefed on Argentina’s legal system relating to legislation, executive and justice as well as its central and local administrations.
On the occasion, the Parliament of the City of Buenos Aires presented the title of Honorary Citizen to Vice NA Chairman Uong Chu Luu.
