Vietnam's Navy Forces, with help from the Royal Thai Navy, on December 27 rescued 17 Vietnamese fishermen whose ship was stranded in the Gulf of Thailand.

The ship, which was from the southernmost province of Ca Mau, had been operating in the Vietnam-Thailand border sea waters before meeting with an accident and drifting into the gulf.

After receiving a request from the Vietnam High Command of Navy, the Royal Thai Navy immediately sent planes and salvage tugs to the site to help with rescue work.
