The two leaders agreed to boost bilateral cooperation in environmental protection and energy, promote military dialogue and exchanges as well as to build on mutual political trust.
Both sides were also adamant that they would continue to work together on the Korean Peninsula denuclearisation process and Chinese Premier Wen pledged to help in resolving the Japanese nationals kidnapping issue with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
After the talks, the two sides issued two joint statements on their planned strengthening of cooperation in the fields of environment protection and energy.
During his stay in Japan, Premier Wen is expected to deliver a speech at the Japanese Parliament, pay a courtesy visit to Japanese Emperor Akihito, chair a high-level bilateral strategic economic dialogue and visit the ancient Japanese capital city of Kyoto.
