A nine-member water puppetry troupe of Vietnam has concluded a series of performances in cities across the Netherlands as part of a month-long international arts festival themed “Music Beat Poverty”.

From May 25 to June 20, the troupe attended the World Music Festival in Nijmegen city, the Street Theatre Festival in Oldenzaal city and the Schijndel Festival in Schijndel city. It also joined more than 20 other foreign troupes in the Festival Mundial in Tilburg city.

The troupe gave between four to five performances a day, attracting around 1,200-1,500 viewers, and even 2,400 viewers at the climax.

This was the first time Vietnamese water puppets were introduced to Dutch audiences.
The festival organizer, the Mundial Production, revealed that it will invite another Vietnamese water puppetry troupe to the Netherlands in November next year.
