Recent heavy downpours have left dozens of residential areas in central provinces under 0.5-1m of floodwater.
Nguyen Thai Lan, head of the Central Region Hydrometeorological Station, said these have been the heaviest rains for many years. The average rainfall in Danang and Quang Nam is 500-600mm, even up to 700mm in some areas.
Flooding has also occurred in the lowlands of Quang Nam, Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Tri provinces.
