Vietnam, New Zealand boost bilateral ties

(VOV) - New Zealand will work closely together with Vietnam to organise a wide range of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2015, said Governor General of New Zealand Jerry Mateparae.

At a reception for newly-appointed ambassador Nguyen Viet Dung in Wellington on September 17, Jerry spoke highly of Vietnam’s important achievements in the ongoing Renewal process, as well as the two countries’ implementation of the action plan in the second phase (2013-2016).

He said he will ask relevant New Zealand agencies to create the best possible conditions for the diplomat to fulfill his mission during his term.

For his part, Dung conveyed the best regards from State President Truong Tan Sang and other high-ranking Vietnamese leaders to the Governor General and briefed him on Vietnam’s recent integration achievements and its development strategies in the future.

He vowed to work hard to promote Vietnam-New Zealand comprehensive partnership in various realms, spanning diplomacy, defence, security, trade-investment, education-training, culture-tourism and agriculture.
