More than 100 contracts and memorandums of understanding worth VND500 billion (US$30 million) in total were made during the 2008 Hanoi Technology and Equipment Fair, which concluded in Hanoi on September 21.

Le Xuan Rao, Director of the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology, said that the four-day event had attracted 285 businesses from Vietnam and abroad to showcase 1,200 technologies, equipment and software solutions at 300 booths.

Techmart Hanoi 2008, the third of its kind, covered a wide range of areas, including mechanical manufacturing, automation, IT, electronics, telecoms, food processing, agriculture, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, tourism, health care, education and banking services.

It also featured urban architectural planning, public transport, energy saving and environment solutions and traditional crafts.

 

The number of visitors to Techmart Hanoi 2008 was estimated at around 100,000.
