Thai Prime Minister reveals Crown Prince’s coronation
Thailand must observe at least 15 days of mourning for King Bhumibol Adulaydej before his successor can be on the throne, said Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha on October 18.

Thai citizens in and outside the country should not worry about the succession, the PM told reporters after a cabinet meeting, stressing that at least 15 days after the funeral there will be appropriate time to execute the Constitution’s section 23 relating to the matter of succession.
The coronation of Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn would take place one year after the cremation of his father, the PM said last week, but adding that the crown prince can become a king before his official coronation.
King Bhumibol passed away on October 13 at 88 after ruling the country for seven decades.
The Royal Household Bureau has opened the Grand Place to Thai citizens and international visitors to pay tribute to the King within 15 days, starting from October 15.
Other royal rituals would take place every day at Phiman Rattaya Palace where the King’s body is displayed for 100 days.
However, citizens are able to officially pay homage to the King from October 28.
