The Party leader of Hai Phong city has spoken highly of the assistance, including official development assistance (ODA) funding, from the Finnish Government and people to his locality.

Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Thuan made the appraisal while receiving in Hai Phong on January 12 the visiting delegation of the Finnish Parliament, headed by Speaker Sauli Niinisto.

Thuan expressed his wish that Finnish businesses would invest in the city in all fields, especially in the environment, health care and hi-tech.

Speaker Sauli Niinisto praised cooperation between Finland and Vietnam and promised to encourage Finnish businesses to invest in Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular.

Finnish ODA has been injected into Hai Phong’s programmes on water supply, Pha Rung shipyard, Bin bridge and the Vietnam-Czech Republic Friendship Hospital.

Recently, the Finnish Government has approved the largest ODA capital for Hai Phong to build Rao bridge, which will link the city’s centre to Do Son tourism area.
