The Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Office of PosMalaysia, Dato Syed Faisal Albar is presiding over both summits.

Attending the 17^th ASEAN Post summit are representatives from the postal departments of 9 ASEAN countries. They are discussing ways to enhance electronic transactions in the region and around the globe, the projects hopes to develop electronic commerce within ASEAN and international electronic money transfers.

Attendants to the summit are also focusing on proposals from the private sector and developing new projects in the field of postal finance and marketing strategy for the express mail service and electronic commerce.

It provides a forum for the postal sector in the region to exchange experience and strengthen their cooperative relations, improve business, and quality of services as well as expanding their markets in Asia.

Earlier, the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications (VNPT) issued a special stamp set entitle Vietnam in the ASEAN community on the occasion of the 17^th ASEAN Summit and related summits in Hanoi on October 27.

As a member of ASEAN Post summit since 1996, VNPT has gained a lot of useful expresience and learn to applied modern methods to improve the efficiency in business management. VNPT also proposed various strategy, action plans, policies and mechanism for development in the region for the common benefits of all countries in the region.

The ASEAN Post summit is an annual event, organised in a routine format. In 2000, VNPT successfully held this summit in Hanoi.
